Spring Into Action

With the green glazed cars, streets, lake, and everything else that is still long enough to suffer the pollen wrath, we know spring is upon us! Despite the surge of allergies among most residents, spring is a beautiful and eventful time in Marshall County! It is a busy time with prom, graduations, various sporting events, etc., but we wanted to you to be aware of many great events around the county in the next couple of weeks that you won’t want to miss!

Happening this Friday, join in on the fun for the Arabian Knight Cruise-in!

Boaz hosts their Second Saturday downtown on April 13th from 5-8 PM. Come with the family ready to have lots of good food, hear a great band, see some classic cars, and have lots of fun! Upcoming Second Saturdays will be May 11th and June 8th.

artThe 52nd Annual Art on the Lake is April 20-21 at the Guntersville Recreation Center. It is open from 10:00 AM-5:00 PM and is $2 for adults (13 and older). Over 120 artists and craftsmen from all over the United States are featured as well as many great food vendors, outdoor games and rides, and a bake sale. swimmersThose up for a good spring fitness challenge will be up gearing up for the May 4th Lake Guntersville Olympic Triathlon. Held at the Lake Guntersville State Park, participants will swim 1500 meters, bike 24 miles, and run 6.2 miles. For more information, please visit www.lakeguntersvilleolympicdistancetriathlon.com

 

5KThose who would still like to be getting fit for a good cause should sign up for the Hot Momma 5K sponsored by the Albertville Chamber for the Junior Scholarship Fund on May 4th at 8 AM. boatsBoat enthusiasts make your plans to attend the Lake Guntersville Antique and Classic Boat Show on May 17-18 at the Lake Guntersville Yacht Club and City Harbor. A parade at the Harbor will be Friday, May 17th from 3:00-5:00 PM. Public viewing of the boats on display will be Saturday, May 18th from 1:00-5:00 PM. Arab’s 29th Annual Poke Salat Music Festival is May 18th downtown and at the Arab City Park. The festival kicks off with an 8:00 AM 5K at the City Park. Throughout the day there will be many food vendors, including sampling of the actual poke salat, childrens games, ice cream eating contest, sidewalk and street vendors, etc. The concerts will begin at the City Park at 5:00 with 70′s genre band, Discoasis, followed by 80′s Bon Jovi cover band, Slippery When Wet.

Gates will open at 4:00 PM and tickets are $10 for adults and $6 for students ages 6 to 18. Children 5 and under are free. For more information and to purchase tickets, please contact the Arab Chamber of Commerce at 256-586-3138.
